Rosa Sanchez-Lucas answered on 4 Apr 2023:
The underwater plants are not rare to me. We have a lot of rivers around well conserved and without contamination so seaweeds and algae are really abundant. Some plants can survive in flooding environments as the pennyroyal. In addition we have a lot of ornamental plants that thanks to spanish weather can survive at home and/or in botanical gardens as waterlilies, and some giant white callas. Few years ago we had a massive problem with water hyacinths, they are invasive plants and can damage the wild species so they were removed.
