I grow orchids on my window sill, I really love them as they are easy to look after and keep flowering regularly, my favourite orchid has been flowering constantly for over 2 years now – so beautiful!
I have some orchids on my kitchen window-sill. Also there are some bee orchids that grow wild near where I live. These are the most amazing flowers, because they evolved to look like bees. this attracts other bees to come and try and mate with them, and end up picking up pollen from the flower and carrying it to another to pollinate it.
Sadly, the species of bee that the flower evolved to look like went extinct, so that there aren’t any bees that get attracted to these amazing flowers. The flowers have evolved to self-pollinate instead, and there isn’t any advantage for the flower to look like a bee, except for us to enjoy it.

I don’t actually like orchids – they are very fussy and over dramatic – I much prefer sunflowers or daisies – much more efficient flowers! 🙂

Lots of people grow tropical orchids as houseplants, but here in the UK we also have orchids that grow in the wild. I’ve seen them in England, Wales and Scotland.
Take a look at these beauties
